CONNOR POOVEY
Connor Poovey is an Atlanta-born artist whose work bridges the grit of urban culture with a deep reverence for the natural world. Growing up surrounded by street art, skateboarding, and basketball, he found early inspiration in artists like Banksy as well as local Atlanta talent. In 2020, Connor earned his BFA in Fine Art from the University of North Florida and soon after founded C. Poovey Art LLC, a creative studio dedicated to murals, fine artworks, and products that transform spaces and spark meaningful dialogue. Whether creating expansive public murals, intimate works on canvas, or accessible products, Connor remains committed to art’s power to inspire, educate, and connect. His work invites viewers to see both the city and the natural world through a lens of beauty, care, and imagination.

MARYNA KOVALCHUK
Maryna Kovalchuk. Visual artist. I was born and raised in Crimea, Ukraine, by the sea, surrounded by stunning nature that has been my source of inspiration since childhood. My artistic journey began in a creative family: my father was an architect, and my grandfather was a painter and sculptor. They taught me how to see beauty in everyday life. I still remember walks with my father, when we would stop to observe the beauty around us — a habit I now pass on to my own children. In my work, I turn to themes of femininity, the beauty of nature, and my Ukrainian roots and culture, which are deeply important to me. Currently, I am developing a series of paintings inspired by Crimean Tatar ornament — the culture of the indigenous people of my homeland, who are now facing oppression and persecution. Florida has become a new oasis of peace and beauty for me. Here, among birds and plants, I find strength to cope with longing for my home and the sorrow brought by the war in Ukraine. Painting helps me transform these emotions into light and harmony. In my practice I work with different media — acrylics for expressive energy, watercolor for lightness and transparency, and pastels for vivid accents. Through this, I combine emotional intensity with delicacy, creating works that are both contemporary and deeply personal.

AMY IRIZARRY
My experience working with critically ill children changed my perspective on how I created
art. In this body of work I used collage and different mediums – taking apart and
reconfiguring physical forms. I created layers of tulle fabric and collaged photo images to
create suggestions of figures. I began the process with mono printing black paint on canvas
then layered the tulle to create a fractured space. The mono print process was repeated
several times until I believed it created a sporadic tone for the subject. I wanted to create a
chaotic atmosphere.
These experiences with hospital patients have influenced the way I create and how to be
present as the observer, not always the subject. I started this series in my senior year of
college and I now plan to revisit this method and style of mixed media.
‘Disassociation’
- “the state of being disconnected” This is a reflection of my internal
conflict of being disconnected mentally; black and white with no color or clear image to
understand. I hope it resonates with viewers in some way.

JULIA IVANISOVA
Born in Ukraine, Julia always saw the world through an artist’s lens. Though trained as an engineer, with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, her heart belonged to painting. Inspired by Crimea’s natural beauty, she created and sold her work to local residents and clients. A visit to the Van Gogh Museum led to her acclaimed series, If Van Gogh Lived in Crimea, and she later merged painting with performance, reenacting fairy tales in immersive visual narratives. But war changed everything. Forced to flee, Julia and her husband left behind not only their home but her entire body of work. Arriving in America with almost nothing, she took on any job she could find while refusing to let go of her artistic vision. A year later, she held her first solo exhibition in New York, followed by others in Florida. Her ongoing series “American Dream: Through the Eyes of an Immigrant” is a visual reflection of her lived experience in the U.S. In this series, Julia explores what it means to start over from the ground up — capturing the quiet resilience, unfamiliar beauty, and emotional contrasts of building a new life. In other works, she documents the emotional weight of leaving Ukraine: the uncertainty, grief, and strength it took to cross that threshold. Together, these projects form a personal archive of transformation — a way to process, preserve, and share what it means to live between worlds. Now based in Jacksonville, she balances her life as an artist with her work as a social media manager and videographer. After several years in the U.S., she became actively involved in Jacksonville’s creative community — participating in collaborative projects, exhibitions, and local storytelling initiatives. This thriving, supportive network of artists and creatives continues to be one of her main reasons for building a life in the city.
